Penny Noyce

On Tuesday November 13, 2012 author Penny Noyce visited Conant presenting to grades 4, 5, and 6.  During her visit, the Conant Library was transformed into the Village of Lexicon.  Students traveled to various locations in the Village, completing math and language activities related to her book, Lost in Lexicon: an Adventure in Words and Numbers.  Thank you to the many volunteers who helped us to transform the library!

While she was here, Penny also visited with all of the classes involved.  She told them about her journey to becoming an author and the process involved in writing her books, and also answered their many questions.  All agreed that it was an interesting and enjoyable day!  Below are some comments about the visit from our fifth graders.

“I liked how Penny Noyce wrote this book for her son and how she wanted to make a book that her son would like.”

“I liked the visit because you get to learn more about authors (and a good one).”

“I liked Metaphor Hill for many reasons.  The activity was fun and it was a time to be creative.”
“I can’t wait to read her new book!”
