Dear Conant Families and Caregivers,

Happy Fancy Friday! Our Student Council hosts Spirit Days throughout the school year, as you probably know. Today was Fancy Friday. At our February All School Meeting today, the Cafetorium was a sea of sparkle, bow ties and tiara’s. What a fun way to celebrate together.

As you know, the upcoming week is our February break, with school resuming on February 23, 2026. Many of our families will be observing important holidays while we are away from school.

If you are one of the two billion people in the world who celebrate Lunar New Year, I would like to wish you wealth, health and prosperity  in this year of the Horse. I hope the New Year showers you with high energy and spirit.

If, like me, you are someone who is still learning about the history and traditions of the  Lunar New Year, I invite you to view these engaging resources with your family.

Ramadan also begins during our February break. To our families who are observing Ramadan: Ramadan Mubarak! Similar to previous years at Conant School, students fasting for the next month will have the option of spending lunch time in a space other than the lunch room. Teachers and staff have offered their time and space to host these opportunities.

As always, please let me know if there is any way I can support you or your family. My best wishes for a safe and happy school vacation week.

Sincerely,

Tricia O’Reilly, Principal, Conant School

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As we head into the February break,  many of our students will be enjoying sleepovers, traveling, and attending camps. While these are wonderful opportunities for fun and connection, they are also environments where they may encounter someone with lice.

To help prevent the spread of head lice, I strongly recommend that you check your child’s hair regularly and especially after vacation.

Key Facts to Remember:

  • Health vs. Nuisance: While head lice are a common frustration for families with school-age children, they are not considered a health risk, as they do not spread disease or illness.

  • Early detection is Key: Catching lice early is the best way to prevent a larger outbreak.

  • How to Check: Focus on the "hot spots"— that is behind the ears, at the nape of the neck, and close to the scalp.

For guidance on what to look for or how to treat an infestation, please visit the A-B Health and Nursing Services website. You can find helpful links under the Health Topics section, accessible via both the District and Conant school websites.

Again, I highly recommend checking your child’s head for lice/nits before returning to school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Wishing you a restful, fun, and healthy vacation!

AB Forward Community Wellness

Conant Cooking Club for 6th grade students:

This club is free for students in 6th grade with all levels of cooking experience.  We will meet on Wednesdays from 1:00-3:00 PM after school in the Cafeteria Kitchen.  Attendance at all 4 sessions is required. Proper dress in the kitchen: students are required to wear sneakers and a hat to keep their hair back. If the student has an apron they would like to bring with them that would be great. If not, we will provide an apron.

Club Dates: 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, and 4/15

Each club is limited to 12 students in order to provide a full hands-on experience. Priority will be given to students who have not yet had a chance to take this class. If we exceed 12 students on the sign up list, we will start a wait list. You will be notified if your child is in the session.
