MA Children's Book Awards

Each spring, the winner of the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award is selected from a list of twenty-five nominated books.  The nominees are selected by a committee of teachers and librarians on the basis of both their literary merit and their appeal to children.  The actual winner of the award is selected not by the committee but by the consumers – the kids!  Participation is coordinated through school libraries.

Again this year, our fifth and sixth graders will have the opportunity to help choose the winner.  Any Conant fourth, fifth, or sixth-grade student who reads five or more of the nominated books will be able to vote for their favorite book on March 30th.

Past winners include:

2021 - Front Desk by Kelly Yang
2020 - The Crossover by Kwame Alexander  2019 -  A Night Divided by Jennifer Nielsen
2018 - The War that Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
2017 - El Deafo by Cece Belle 2016 - The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate
